Two Georgia election workers file defamation lawsuits against OAN, Rudy Giuliani

Two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss filed a defamation lawsuit against One America News Network (OAN) and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

The lawsuit says OAN accused the two workers of ballot fraud even after proven otherwise. Giuliani, a lawyer for former President Donald Trump, continued to amplify the claims.

According to Newsweek, the accusations caused the two workers to fear living their normal lives. The lawsuit says Freeman and Moss experienced “an immediate onslaught of violent and racist threats and harassment.” They are seeking punitive damages and a court order to remove false statements regarding the two from the internet and media channels.

Trump himself is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, but the complaint says “initial claims by the Trump campaign team were based only on short selections of the Trump Edited Video and did not name any individual Fulton County election workers, OAN and Giuliani were some of the first and only outlets and commenters to specifically name Ms. Freeman and Ms. Moss, and they have continued to do so for more than a year (New York Post).”

This is the second lawsuit Freeman and Moss have filed in the past month. The first was against the conservative website Gateway Pundit, which also used their names outright and associated them with misinformation.
