POLL: Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama headline Democrats’ top picks if Biden doesn’t run in 2024

Vice President Kamala Harris and former first lady Michelle Obama are the top two picks for the Democratic presidential nomination if President Biden decides not to seek re-election in 2024, according to a survey.

Other likely candidates included Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Cory Booker of New Jersey, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and former 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang.

Michelle Obama has previously played down the chances of her running for President. In 2017, she said, “I wouldn’t ask my children to do this again because when you run for higher office, it’s not just you. It’s your whole family,” according to The Independent

Biden reportedly plans to run for reelection in 2024. He would be 81 on Election Day that year, but would turn 82 soon after. (Biden’s birthday is November 20.)

White House press secretary Jen Psaki reiterated last week that it was Biden’s “intention” to run as the president boarded Air Force One for an early Thanksgiving visit with troops in North Carolina.
