Breeding anarchy: abandoning rule of law

Anarchy flag

The Bible tells us that in the last days lawlessness (that is, anarchy) will abound resulting in the love of many growing cold. This prophecy is now fulfilling before our very eyes. We see it in our urban districts where protests abound but common sense solutions exist nowhere. And we see it in our electorate that has lost interest in participating in the political process due to their lack of confidence in their representatives. Often they correctly conclude that the eloquent speaker before them is just the same as the other “crooks” asking for their vote. These low expectations have yielding predictable results. Thus, we get what we expect and are willing to accept.

When you abandon law, anarchy comes in.

We are breeding anarchy in this land today. We could discuss the contributing factors to this present political environment ad infinitum. A primer on the Constitution that was published in 1828 and recently edited by William Huff, entitled “Elementary Catechism on the Constitution of the United States” also included the 1958 Code of Ethics for Government Service. While the cause and manifestations of anarchy are prophetic, the violations against accepted Codes of Ethics find ready acceptance. This is evidenced by the ongoing campaign of Hillary Clinton. Reading the Code of Ethics should shed some light on the subject, so I have included it below.

Logically, any hope of restoring the integrity of our government, should begin with re-introducing the Code into the public psyche. Doing this will reveal the astounding correlation between lawless representatives who subvert the Code and those that subvert the law. It is worth noting that the unethical politician has an advantage over the ethical one. Their willingness to spin the truth and produce propaganda against their opponent is part of their nature. Add to that the charisma factor that is amplified by the media, and you have a combination that insures the perpetuation of their unethical career.

Rule of law

This lack of ethics is the very basis of their inability or unwillingness to uphold the law. And so dishonorable persons that should be occupying prison cells walk among us as free and prosperous presidential candidates. In turn, the lawlessness they inspire at all levels of government spills into the city streets where immorality, poor education, hopelessness, and the lack of traditional family structures result in a degree of anarchy that is frequently beyond our comprehension. Had these politicians done their jobs and respected the laws we elected them to enforce, life would be better for those they represent – and by extension, for the nation as a whole.

As you read the Code below, be sure to think about how each and every article has been violated. Furthermore, these violations have cursed us with more than just bad politicians. These violations lie at the root of our demise as a free and liberty-loving people. Freedom cannot co-exist with apathy and anarchy. Anarchy requires government intervention to restore order, and government intervention results in an over-reaching government that soon morphs into tyranny. Thomas Jefferson once said and Gerald Ford repeated,

A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take away everything you have.

And my dear reader, everything includes all your liberties, your parental rights, your property, the right to choose your own doctor, and your religious freedom. Those who have been paying attention to the political realm can list long trains of abuses for each article below. To them I say, read them and weep. Weep for your country. And then beg Almighty God to intervene. Because surely we need His Divine Intervention to restore what we have neglected to uphold and enforce.

Code of Ethics for Government Service

House Document 103, 86th Congress, 1st Session – Passed by the Congress of the United States on July 11, 1958.

ANY PERSON IN GOVERNMENT SERVICE SHOULD:

  1. Put loyalty to the highest moral principles above loyalty to persons, party, or Government department.
  2. Uphold the Constitution, laws, and legal regulations of the United States and of all governments therein and never be a party to their evasion.
  3. Give a full day’s labor for a full day’s pay; giving to the performance of his duties his earnest effort and best thought.
  4. Seek to find and employ more efficient and economical ways of getting tasks accomplished.
  5. Never discriminate unfairly by the dispensing of special favors or privileges to anyone, whether for remuneration or not; and never accept, for himself or his family, favors or benefits under circumstances which might be construed by reasonable persons as influencing the performance of his governmental duties.
  6. Make no private promises of any kind binding upon the duties of office, since the Government employee has no private word which can be binding on public duty.
  7. Engage in no business with the Government, either directly or indirectly, which is inconsistent with the conscientious performance of his governmental duties.
  8. Never use any information coming to him confidentially in the performance of governmental duties as a means for making private profit.
  9. Expose corruption wherever discovered.
  10. Uphold these principles, ever conscious that public office is a public trust.
