Abortion and hypocrisy

on

Planned Parenthood kills more than guns. An anti-abortion and anti-gun control message from the 2013 March for Life. This represents one of the two Americas.

If you find it hard to watch the news without yelling that things don’t make sense anymore, your sensibilities of fairness and common sense have an ample supply of fuel these days. Amidst the burgeoning realm of campaign rhetoric, the recent videos exposing the atrocities of Planned Parenthood have unleashed a fresh new supply of hypocrisies to augment all of the old ones.

The abortion endpoint

Think about abortion when you see images like this.Images of draconian conversations and hard to look at babies that have been murdered and dismembered for profit have enraged the pro-life community and many pro-abortion supporters – but not all. At a recent county-level meeting in one of New Jersey’s most conservative communities, a Resolution requesting an investigation into Planned Parenthood’s illegal activities was on the agenda. The Resolution was designed to support the congressional movement. As was anticipated, this agenda item did not escape the attention of the county’s most ardent abortion supporters, as well as others outside the county. Their objections were notable due to their commonality among other like-minded abortion supporters nationwide. One of their vociferous objections was: how dare tax dollars be spent on a “witch hunt” like this. Of course they had no objection to the millions of tax dollars being spent to fund Planned Parenthood in spite of the moral objections held by many. Forcing people who morally object to such a procedure to pay for it is tantamount to tyranny but somehow this takes a back seat to the abortion supporters’ perceived “witch hunt” of an investigation – even when there is overwhelming probable cause. Their claim, “Nothing illegal was done, therefore the investigation should be dropped.” Think of the millions of dollars the tax payers would save if every criminal investigation was dropped based on the word of those being investigated. Of course the logic that if nothing illegal was done, Planned Parenthood should welcome the investigation that would clear their name did not seem to impact their thought process.

A hypocritical platform

Chief among the Planned Parenthood defenders was a candidate running for a state level position with the Green Party – and his objections typified the hypocrisies of those holding his position. Like the mantra of other uber progressives, the mission statement of this party simply states:

The Green politics movement stands for: Green Jobs, Peace, Social and Economic Justice, Environmental Wisdom, and Grassroots Democracy.

The politically well-informed are able to cut through the cleverly crafted semantics and understand the meanings behind this nice-sounding language. For instance, under the category of “Social and Economic Justice” their website states:

All are equal before the law. As a country, we have strived from the beginning to exemplify this principle. First, African-Americans, then women, now LGBT rights. The goal is and always has been the same: equality before the law.

In this instance, it is not so much what is mentioned that is a problem, it’s what is not mentioned that is stunningly hypocritical – a hypocrisy that was on display at the NJ meeting and in all other states in these United States of America. The Green Party is notoriously outspoken when it comes to protecting the environment – or the growing population of bears, as the case is in NJ. It will often make its presence known in support of carbon taxes that they believe will encourage alternate sources of energy, and of course you can count on them to be there to defend the lives of frogs or birds, some of which were never seen in the locations where they seek to protect them. But when it comes to the baby humans – well, you can count on them to be there to defend the right of the mother or Planned Parenthood to kill the child. If Cecil the Lion had his progeny killed upon delivery and the parts of the cub sold for profit, you could expect them to protest ad nauseum, and yet the baby humans receive no such consideration. Once again, their hypocrisy is stunning.

A right to kill?

Other arguments presented by these hypocrites extraordinaire consist of the all too familiar mantra: it’s a women’s choice; it’s her right, yadda, yadda, yadda. The fact that no one, not even a mother or a father, have the right to kill another human being is not acknowledged, nor is the personhood of the child in the womb acknowledged.   But of even greater concern should be the fact that the abortion procedure in existence (as horrific as it is) was altered to create an even more horrific situation. The child who is delivered for the purpose of harvesting its parts must be delivered intact. Think about that. Saline solutions that painfully kill the child in the womb or procedures that tear it apart limb from limb will not yield a body with parts that are salable. Therefore, abortion is no longer the issue; infanticide is preferred for these draconian profiteers. Of course I would argue that abortion is infanticide but even those who hold to a more liberal persuasion would have a hard time arguing that a fully developed baby that is delivered with fully formed salable organs is a human being and not a mass of tissue. But the hypocrisy that is stunning in this instance does not apply just to those who support abortion at any stage. Amazingly, it extends to many within the pro-life community. While passionate about defending their position, pro-lifers seem more horrified that the child’s body parts are being sold than they are about the manner in which the parts become available for sale.

Murder is murder, whether parts go up for sale or not

So, let me pose this somewhat strange questions. Does it really matter if a child’s body parts are being sold after it is killed? Isn’t the real problem the fact that the child is killed – and painfully killed and tortured at that?

The stunning hypocrisies that exist within the progressive mind in this case are many-fold. The same people who object to money being spent on investigations don’t object to money being spent on abortions. The same people who object to the mistreatment of animals or anything in the environment, do not apply the same standard to the mistreatment of human beings. The same people who object to water boarding terrorists, do not object to the treatment the unborn are subjected to within the womb at the time of abortion – or afterward. And the same people who object to any violation of their perceived rights of a woman regarding abortion do not object to the rights of pro-lifers being forced to subsidizing something they find morally reprehensible. (By the way, wouldn’t it be interesting to determine what percentage of our tax dollars go to fund Planned Parenthood, and that percentage was deducted in protest at the time our income taxes are paid?)

All of those hypocrisies are stunningly absurd but perhaps the most offensive is for the segment of the population I belong to: the pro-lifers. Their shock regarding the sale of body parts is understandable but somewhat baffling and misplaced. The real issue, in my humble opinion, is that the most vulnerable and innocent among us are being brutalized and murdered every single day – first within the womb and now outside of it. It seems Dr. Francis Schaffer was unfortunately correct when he predicted that infanticide would be the fruit of abortion. He also predicted that euthanasia for all categories of the population would become justifiable and would follow in a culture that did not respect the sanctity of human life. Today we are proving him right. This disrespect for human life made in the image of God is to be expected in a culture that does not revere God or those created in His image. So, let me end with Deuteronomy 30:15 that states: “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” AGAIN – choose life.
