Deborah and Joan of Arc?

Back in 2000 I wrote a piece, “Israel Needs Another Golda.”  Remember the witticism about Golda, that she was the only man in Israel’s Cabinet?  Well, it’s obvious Israel’s Cabinet needs another Golda. Enter the more youthful and attractive Deputy Foreign Minister, Tzipi Hotovely.

From Golda to Tzipi

Think of her as Israel’s next Prime Minister. What a relief vis-à-vis BB! Although BB is not a eunuch – never mind what his critics say of him – his willingness to prostitute Israel for peace is not exactly indicative of his possessing an abundance of testosterone. This brings me back to Golda.

Golda was once asked:  “What would you give the Arabs for peace?”  She answered: “For peace I would give peace.  Is our peace less valuable than their peace?” Since BB apparently thinks so, he has offered the Arabs swaths of Judea and Samaria, the heartland of the Jewish people.

Contrast Golda, a realist. She wrote in her memoirs:

I have never doubted for an instant that the true aim of the Arab states has always been, and still is, the total destruction of the State of Israel, or that even if we had gone back far beyond the 1967 lines to some miniature enclave, they would not still have tried to eradicate it and us…. It is our duty to realize this truth … We need to [face] this truth in all its gravity, so that we may continue to mobilize from among ourselves and the Jewish people all the resources necessary to overcome our enemies.

BB is cerebrally aware the Arabs want to destroy Israel, but he doesn’t know what to do about it. He lacks the courage and intellectual capacity – in that order – to formulate and pursue a long-term strategy that would (1) put an end to the Palestinian Authority, and (2) populate Judea and Samaria with enough Jews as to make the idea a Palestinian state in the land of Israel an absurdity. Israel therefore needs a new face, a leader who thinks like a Jew – with a dash of Alexander Hamilton, America’s most constructive statesman, who actually served as Washington’s “prime minister,” and who, by the way, attended a Jewish Day School!

A modern Deborah – or Joan of Arc

Like many others, I am fed up with the timidity and fatuity of the males (or mules) that misrule Israel. So I want to believe that Tzipi Hotovely possesses the Jewish self-confidence and Jewish wisdom which every Prime Minister of Israel has more or less lacked since Israel’s rebirth, judging from (1) their fear of world opinion; (2) their failure to base Jewish possession of Eretz Israel on the Torah; (3) their yielding sacred and strategic land to Israel’s demonstrably evil and militarily inferior enemies; (4) their perpetuation of Israel’s inherently ephemeral and dysfunctional political system resulting from proportional representation and multiparty cabinet government.

Therefore, since Tzipi Hotovely boldly and wisely bases Jewish possession of Eretz Israel on the Torah, I would like to think of her a potential Deborah, who was a judge as well as a warrior of the ancient republic of Israel!

Of if you prefer, think of Tzipi as a Jewish Joan of Arc, a woman who can rally men – the men of Israel – to overcome the pagan enemies of this country.

For heaven’s sake, let us take courage. Let us set our sights beyond the myopic vision of tired and timid politicians.  Let us cease being the victims of our own folly and of the vicious designs of our enemies. Let us rally behind Tzipi Hotovely and take possession of our ordained future!

Be assured that this would have arouse the latent but fighting spirit of the American people, who from good will unwittingly chose a fool and a moral eunuch as their President.☼
