Democrats, where were you?

Barack Obama in a happier, more brazen, time for him.

Now they tell us! Democrats all over the country, but especially from the East Coast and the South, now say the obvious. They have the wrong message. They promised little and delivered even less. You think? But where were the Democrats six and a half years ago, when Barack Obama sought the nomination? They could have shorted out his nomination then. They did not. And now we can blame them, not Obama, for the trouble the country is now in.

The Obama message

Everyone remembers what Obama said before the midterm election. He said maybe he wasn’t on the ballot, but his policies would be. “Every single one of them,” he said.

The sheer arrogance of that remark shocked the Democrats. And the unpopularity of those same policies didn’t help. The week before the election, Democrats unloaded on Obama. Garth Kant at WND got the full dope.

Paul Begala said it best of all:

This is Politics 101: Always make it about the voters, not about yourself … I don’t understand it. It was an unforced error at a time we can ill afford them.

Anyone with any insight on human nature and the human soul can understand it. Barack Obama love himself, first, last, and forever. He thinks he’s God’s gift to voters, and society. He truly believes his policies will work on some level. And he dares anyone to criticize a  man of his talents!

Paul Begala feared the Democrats would lose. He guessed right. The Democrats lost, and lost huge.

Then it happened.

Democrats break ranks

Obama applauds his bill, and other Democrats applaud him. That was then. This is now.

Senator Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) broke ranks first. He said the Democrats should never have tried to fix health care while the economy was suffering.

Well, zippity-doo-dah! Where was Senator Schumer four years ago? Didn’t he support Obamacare with a whole heart in 2010? Easy for him. He won re-election in 2010. New York State is New York State. But two years before that, he could have supported his colleague in the Senate, Hillary Clinton, for President.

Bill Barrow of the Associated Press tells us Southern Democrats are taking after Schumer. He quotes Rick Cole, chairman of the Mississippi State Democratic Party:

We don’t need a new Coke formula. The problem is, we’ve been out there trying to peddle Tab and RC Cola.

No, that’s not it. Barack Obama did go out with the formula for New Coke. And it went over like that same lead balloon.

But again, where were they six years ago?

How the Democrats could have prevented it

In 2001, Obama, then State Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.-13th), decried the Constitution. “A charter of negative liberties,” he called it. He preferred a Constitution with “positive rights,” things the government must do for people. (And in the immortal words of Ayn Rand: who pays for all that? Blank-out!)

Every Democrat worth his office-door nameplate knew that of Obama. Why did they support him?

More than that, Hillary Clinton knew then: Barack Obama is not eligible to the office of President. She could have used a little support. She got none.

And where were the Democrats when the rest of us realized what Hillary Clinton did? That his birth certificate is an amateurish forgery? And that his father was a British colonial subject?

They bought off, or threatened, every judge who ever looked at the evidence. They called us “birthers.” They might as well have said, “Obama’s eligibility is obscure to any who are stupid or unfit for their jobs.” (And what had they to say to those of us who have no jobs, because they let Obama trash the economy?)

And most of all, they followed in lock-step behind Obama. They yessed and they fawned. And they followed both meanings of the word “sycophant”: the modern meaning and the ancient one, for one who sets someone up on trumped-up charges. Back in those ancient times, the charge was fig-smuggling. (The word sycophant literally means “one who shows the fig.”) Today it’s tax evasion. (That’s where Lois Lerner came in.)

And now they tell us they picked the wrong time to take over one-sixth of the economy, and let the economy slide?

Why should we believe a word they say?

For over 150 years, the most vile name anyone could call someone was either “democrat” or lawyer. Both represent the scum of the earth.
