Yesterday the scandal involving the Internal Revenue Service broke wide-open. Angry members of a key subcommittee (including half its Democrats!) took turns denouncing the agency and especially its leaders. But few of them got the true point. The IRS scandal should surprise no one. Least of all should it surprise any in Congress. For they, more than anyone else, created the monstrous tax code that needs a monstrous agency to enforce it.

The IRS scandal grows by the hour. Every hour shows more proof that the Internal Revenue Service behaved badly, and always has. But people aren’t looking at the real scandal. The real scandal is a tax code that needs an IRS to enforce it. Our tax laws let, even make, the IRS ask things about you that are none of anyone’s business but yours. Such laws are not fit for governing a free people.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has always targeted conservative groups, pro-Israel groups, and groups seeking to improve America. Now its activities are a public scandal. But this should surprise no one.
Boston Marathon Bombing Updates
The Boston Marathon bombing story, or at least those parts of it that might suggest who did it, has changed radically. As a result, the people now have less confidence in their government, not more. This is not the result any government would want. Furthermore, the government might not want to admit, even to itself, who did the deed.
Coup d’état or playing with toys?

Is the Department simply acting like a child in a candy store? Or is the administration planning a coup d’état against the people?
TSA Screener Describes Epic Fail
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is America’s first line of defense against another Nine-eleven Incident, or worse. At least, that’s what they want you to think. But an ex-TSA screener at Newark Liberty Airport now says that his job is a joke, and the TSA makes almost no difference in airline flight safety.
UN Palestine Vote: So what?
Yesterday the UN Palestine vote finally took place. Everyone knew how it would turn out, years ahead of time. So now the UN calls Palestine (whatever that is) a “state” but does not give it a vote. So what? Palestine might have better standing in the UN. But it does not have sovereignty. The world has not recognized its territorial claims. No one will re-divide Jerusalem tomorrow or any time soon, if ever. All the UN has done is to harden hearts all around.
Israel Gaza conflict – wider war?
The Israel Gaza conflict broke out again this week. It has simmered for seven years, and hints of a breakout came when the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS in Arabic) seized power in Gaza and governed it their own way. Now the armies of Israel have had enough. But they also have evidence that Iranian advisers helped HAMAS this time. This war might become much wider, and involve all the Middle East.
America: they want it? Let them own it
During the past four years, and even the time leading up to Obama’s first election, many who spent the required time to actually look into what he had planned for America, have feared he would be successful in fundamentally changing this country.
Netanyahu speech: putting war off
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel yesterday gave the speech everyone was waiting for. The Netanyahu speech to the UN probably relieved some hearers, and certainly frustrated others. Because the Netanyahu speech put off war until next year. Can he afford to wait? Must he wait?
