Sheriffs, guts, and the Constitution

Your local sheriff might be all that stands between you and a coup d'état.

Although little media attention has been given to the absentee sheriff of Clark County, Nevada, there are signs in the background of the militia pictures that read: “Where is the Sheriff?” The elusive Sheriff Douglas C. Gillespie’s name is also difficult to find on Clark County’s sheriff’s websitei. This once revered Sheriff received the prestigious Sheriff of the Year Award from the National Sheriff’s Association as recently as March 18, 2014, but in April of 2014 he would be more deserving of the Casper Award for Sheriffs that Disappear When Needed Most.

Sheriff Rogers shows up when Sheriff Gillespie goes AWOL

Arriving on the scene at the Bundy ranch to defend the Bundy’s (and by extension, the rest of us) from the Bureau of Land Management, was Indiana Sheriff Brad Rogers. Sheriff Rogers is best known for telling the FDA to take a hike when they tried to stop an Amish milk farmer for selling fresh milk.ii

Fortunately, there are other sheriffs nationwide that have not shirked their responsibilities and have stayed true to their oaths of office. And one of these Guardians of our Constitution, Sheriff Tony DeMeo, resides in Nye County Nevada. In 1997, federal agents arrived to seize cattle that belonged to rancher Wayne Hage. Sheriff Tony DeMeo stood firm and after the death of Wayne Hage, continued to defend the Hage Estate against the encroachers. After many court battles, the family retained their cattle and their land. After this, Wyoming sheriffs have told federal agencies they must check with the respective sheriff before they serve any papers, make any arrests or confiscate any property.iii

Sheriff Richard Mack from Graham County, Arizona and Sheriff Jay Printz from Montana joined forces to fight the Clinton’s Administration’s attempt at gun control through the implementation of the Brady Act.iv (Printz v. U.S. (521 U.S. 898). In this case, Justice Scalia, writing for the majority, reaffirmed the 10th Amendment and upheld the sheriff’s authority to stop federal encroachments. Justice Scalia wrote that our Founders in the Constitution established a dual system of sovereignty (the individual states and the federal government) whereby the federal powers are clearly enumerated in Article 1, Section 8 of our Constitution and all other powers that do not conflict with the federal powers belong to the state.

Sheriff Mack has become an outspoken advocate on the authority of the Office of the Sheriff. He has many YouTube videos of his speeches that are informative and encouraging.v Also famous for his courageous stands against many illogical and illegal encroachments is Sheriff Joe Arpaio from Maricopa County, Arizona.

In Yreka, California, other sheriffs have also stood for the Constitution and therefore, for your rights. Their video of Sheriffs Stand Tall for the Constitution is worth watching.vi There is also Sheriff Gill Gilbertson, Josephine County, Oregon – who speaks about how sheriffs are being defunded, etc. and how miners and those in the lumber industry are being abused, as well as others.vii

In Idaho, a 74-year-old rancher shot an endangered gray wolf which had killed one of his calves. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service sent three armed agents to serve a warrant. Lemhi County Sheriff Brett Barslou said that was “inappropriate, heavy-handed and dangerously close to excessive force.” More than 500 people turned out for a rally in the small towns of Challis and Salmon to support the sheriff and the rancher and to tell the federal government to back offviii

You may be asking: what is going on?

The answer may be insidious, and yet simple. Consider that the federal encroachments span the areas of gun control, forestry, mining, ranching – including cattle and milk production, as well as other categories too numerous to mention, coal and oil fields, fracking and natural gas, as well as environmental absurdities that allow the feds to confiscate private property and shut down manufacturing (including companies like Gibson Guitar) all in the name of sustainability. Now compare these encroachments against United Nation’s Agenda 21 that asserts that “consumer” nations are those that are meat-eaters, drive too much and use too much fuel, and use too much air conditioning. All these consumerism traits are considered to be negatively impacting the global environment and to be a threat to sustainability of the planet.

When taking a good look at Agenda 21 and the control it will exert of our beloved nation, the abuses of the feds power grabs should not surprise anyone. What should surprise us is how far we have allowed this to grow right under our very well-fed, very climate-comfortable noses. The problem for America is simple: we cannot remain the land of the free and the home of the brave if we become global robots. As we become subjects of the globalists, we lose our sovereignty as American citizens. The two citizenships are mutually exclusive. National sovereignty and globalism cannot co-exist.

The answer may be simple as well – although the implementation of the answer may require diligence. America needs to elect sheriffs who understand their constitutional authority. America’s sheriffs along with a well-armed militia, may very well be our last defense against the global goons that would enslave us and our children. Find out where your sheriff stands. If he is a strong constitutionalist, be sure he knows that you support him. If he’s not aware of the constitutional authority of his office, it’s time to tell him to join the ranks of the unemployed and go out and find a sheriff that has the guts to stand up for America and for you! If you think that what is happening at the Bundy ranch is deserved because Cliven Bundy didn’t obey the law, perhaps you should think again. Not all laws should be obeyed. It is the very essence of the American spirit to stand against tyranny and our God-given rights. Start thinking, America, and after you do, start acting. Our time to act may be slipping by us and with it goes our freedom. Right now, it’s not too late. Tomorrow may be another story.
